Ruby Bay Haven
This coastal renovation was all about embracing natural light, maximizing space, and creating seamless functionality. From clever storage solutions to a completely reimagined downstairs layout, Ruby Bay Haven now flows with ease and purpose.
Ruby Bay Haven is a home that has the feeling of a tree house nestled amongst the natives and looking out over Ruby Bay, Tasman. With all day birdsong and regular visits of Kererū and Tui this place is pretty magical.
The house was originally a winery for the neighbouring property, it was turned into a house and when owner Kristie and Trav brought it they knew they were taking on a pretty special project.
Working with Simone from Architectural Studio, Mapua Kristie and Trav worked on plans to transform their weathered and tired home into the unique beachside escape it is today.
For this project we turned an old garage into a bedroom, fitted out a whole new downstairs, adding a large deck for indoor and outdoor flow and re doing both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. A new entrance was designed to create a better flow. Existing windows were replaced with double glazing to help bring warmth for the winter months and bring sunlight in. We were able to bring the outside in. A large outdoor deck was created for entertaining and the indoor outdoor flow was enhanced to be able to enjoy those long balmy summer evenings.
This project was a labour of love and as each wall was opened up during the renovation, surprises of the old wine press and how it all worked were uncovered. Kristie and Trav have created a beautiful home to enjoy and the space reflects their love for nature and the outdoors. It was a pleasure to work with them in bringing their ideas to life.
